Shotgun Party / The Blood Choir / Oxygen Thief
Where: The Louisiana // When: 26/01/2010
by Jodie Humphries

My first gig of the year â a very delayed gig may I add, saw me at The Louisiana to support my old mate Barry, aka Oxygen Thief, as he took the plunge showcasing new material. For those who donât know Oxygen Thief, simply the best way to describe him, is acoustic rock â sounds strange right? Well he has to been seen to believed as he throws himself (and his hair) around on stage armed with only his acoustic guitar for company, making as many sounds out of it than it seems humanly possible for a man to do.
The new material featured Barryâs tried and tested formula of catchy riffs and strong, fast singing, as he raced through songs such as âTerry Nutkins Saluteâ and âDisaster Planâ, before finishing on a slightly older song of âModesty Is Deadâ. His new material consisted of some songs with vocals, while some were purely instrumental. Despite âepic guitar failureâ as Barry himself described it half-way through the set, the showcase of new songs was a success for Oxygen Thief. Look out for Mr Thief recording and releasing an album this year.
